Why Lacrosse?

Lacrosse is the oldest sport native to North America, and over the last few decades, it has been the fastest-growing team sport in the United States.  Don’t worry if your daughter has never played - most girls in Oregon haven’t!  She won’t be at a disadvantage by being new to the sport!  Many girls playing lacrosse have only picked up a stick within the last year or two, and every year Hillsboro adds more brand new players to our ranks.  Our goal is to provide a fun lacrosse experience for girls thorughout Hillsboro and build a youth program that has the strength and depth to support the lacrosse clubs of all four high schools in the Hillsboro School District.

In 1997, Glencoe High School’s girls’ lacrosse team was established, becoming one of the original girls’ high lacrosse programs in Oregon.  Players from Hillsboro have gone to play collegiate lacrosse at all levels, from club to NCAA Division One, and internationally.  Our goal at Hillsboro United Girls Lacrosse is to build off of the long-standing tradition of girls’ lacrosse in Hillsboro to prepare our youth players for success in high school lacrosse and beyond.

US Lacrosse provides a number of useful resources on introducing girls and parents to the game.  For more general information about lacrosse, and girls’ youth lacrosse in particular, please go to https://www.uslacrosse.org/about-the-sport

About US

Hillsboro United Girls Lacrosse was established in 2020 to provide elementary and middle school girls within Hillsboro School District’s boundaries an opportunity to participate in a competitive lacrosse program, emphasizing the fundamentals of the game, good sportsmanship, and the spirit of competition.  We will continue to work with the Hillsboro Parks & Recreation Dept. to promote lacrosse within our community.
